Cheers Stu for pointing out Justin has blogged about the Eurovision thing on his myspace. Are people still doing myspace then? I must admit my facebook network hasn't really bloomed like it might have done, that's what only adding people you really know as "friends" though. Or at least people you have actually met, once. The internet is a lonely place. Anyway, here's what Justin had to say. I've met him you know, I'm sure I have.

I left Vancouver to follow my eurovision dream, but was outclassed ultimately by the magical Scooch on March 17th 2007. My 32nd birthday. The United Kingdom must be either racist or stupid not to have voted for Big Brovas or Beverlei Brown (she looked and sounded FANTASTIC). It's like when multi-award winning, multi-million selling Lemar lost to David "3 stars at Burger King" Sneddon in Fame Academy all those years ago. Nothing ever changes. That fella off Doctor Who that looks like a fat Tom Cruise was offering expert analysis on the entrants, and encouraged the voting public to send Scooch to Eurovision. He then had the nerve to come into my dressing room and "act" surprised by the result. I don't know who he is or why he thought I'd be interested in his commiserations. I certainly don't understand how he got an acting job. I thought I could see his nose growing when he said he couldn't believe the sing-off wasn't between us and Big Brovas... The whole thing whiffed of a stitch-up, particularly when you consider that our supporters had their banners confiscated by security, whilst Scooch fans were filmed proudly waving theirs. When Big Brovas were eliminated, my heart sank and I thought, "The dream is over." I was right. Despite the disappointment however, I must confess that after seeing the Scooch performance a couple of times, it clicked. And I realised that actually, that is what Eurovision is all about.

Rain seemed to play quite a part... Friday, raced out of work not quite in time to go to the Andrew Davies talk, part of the literary festival, but in good time to get some chips, and eat them in the rain on my way to The Grand Hotel where the talk was. The wife and the father-in-law and bro-in-law were there and I met them in the bar after. Very busy for a change, mostly because of a monthly quiz going on (sounded a bit easy). It's quite a nice bar to hang out in anyway.
Got talked into borrowing the car for my trip to Fareham the next day, which was very handy, the journey flies by listening to Jonathan Ross on Radio 2, even the really slow bits, like the single lane stuff through Hindhead... WEIRD, was just preparing a link to The Devil's Punchbowl, the bit of the A3 where the road slows down and thought trick of the light looks a bit like a plane, but zoom in, it is a plane.
Great to do a bit of family visiting while I was down that way, then off out for the night in Fareham, taking in The Vanguard, The Naz, and Lord Arthur Lee, and sensibly bailing out before getting talked into going to a nightclub.

Great lunch the next day, and then the rain started hoofing it down just as it was time for me to start the long drive back. Conditions were a little bit hairy going back up the A3, but no delays at least, and then the rain died off... until it was time for me to get out of the car again.

Watched some House and an episode of (I have all six at last, rah!) and ate chilli.

This morning, what a shocker of a day, the weather was dreadful down in Folkestone. Southeastern used the rain as an excuse for our trains being delayed, which is about as believable as Tom Cruise's wedding. Why should a bit of rain affect what time a train can leave? It's not like anyone had to wait for the water to be shovelled from the tracks. Most likely it's staff being a bit slower to get moving in the train, so why not tell the truth? Go on, just once.

Free lunch here was good, vege burger and potato wedges. Making good progress on the game I'm writing here, and enjoying playing with and .

This week's FREE STUFF!

L-l-lovely L-l-ladytron sent stuff, so did Wookie, Wilt and Moshi Moshi Records...

Ladytron (recent winners of a duelling keyboards head to head with Add N To (X)) have put together a platter that is packed with the sounds of SPACE and THE FUTURE, in their four track "mu-tron ep". NME made it single of the week, bizarrely calling it "concussive metal", but that could just be me quoting them wildly out of context... think Air and a little Pet Shop Boys, and also if knew what Kraut Rock was, I might say this was it too. They've released it on actual 12 inch vinyl, as well as CD, and both formats are up for grabs as part of tomorrows prize giving... HEY, if you don't win, you can go buy it, in shops, on Monday...

Also received this, an indescribable album from Ingo Star Cruiser (uh Pavementy? Primal ScreamWilt and a something I believe the young people call "Garage" from Wookie, which I really like, what is happening to me? Anyway, all of these could be YOURS, if, you are number one top trader tomorrow...

I will also find something for the best signer upper (which lets face it is going to be Dennis again), and run the other mobile phone competition too, I promise...
