Bumping into friends in London

Dec 3

KERRAZY, went to London last weekend and it was smashing, and we bumped into good chums Ralph and Linda and baby Astrid in GAP, what are the chances of that? OK, we had already arranged to meet up with them earlier that day at , which was also very nice, but then to meet again was a coincidence. We did both have discount vouchers for GAP, I think everyone in the country did last weekend, it's all gone a bit crazy. We really did need to buy some baby clothes as christmas presents though, so we do seem to have genuinely saved 30% there.

Rest of the trip was great too, went up early on the train, shopped a bit. Hamleys was absolute chaos, an escalator broke down and the store was at a standstill, crowded like a moshpit. Thought about shouting "FIRE! FIRE! EVERYONE OUT!!!", but thinking about it now that would not have helped anyone. Met Emma for lunch in [fg]Soho Thai[fg], we even booked, but there was only one other table occupied. Very good food though, delicious. Went almost straight from there to for coffee, then shopped a bit more, then stopped for a mulled wine in The Crown and Two Chairmen, and reminisced about the time we saw a standup gig there. Ambled gently back towards Charing Cross, and stopped for our now semi regular London dinner of near the station. Splendid again, not as good as lunch but is always reliable.

Great weekend, looking forward to doing it all again. Busy at work this week, but planning an ace weekend out with my folks this weekend.

Still going through my CD's, with a view to getting rid of them all, it's a very slow process. Some of those I thought might have some value now seemingly don't, like Terrorvision's Thrive EP, so I'm probably just going to bring them to work, say GBP1 each (apart from the first Darkness single) and charity shop the rest :-( It's the end of an era but it will clear some space.

Sounds like crapland

Dec 2

My aunt went to this Lapland in the New Forest thing at the weekend and said it was bitterly disappointing, and then I saw it on BBC Breakfast this morning. Read Angry mum's lapland photo diary from dailyecho.co.uk and a report here from bitterwallet.com, I expect more of these will start showing up on the news feeds now, they've had over 1000 complaints...

Backstage at Elton John's new year's eve party...

Nov 30
O2 Arena, Peninsula Square, Greenwich, London SE10 0DX

This doesn't actually sound like a bad deal, New Year's Eve is always expensive and disappointing, how do you , at the 'Dome, free drinks and an after show party too? All for less than 300 quid. Regular tickets are around the hundred quid mark anyway...

*Top Price ticket located in 'A' block

*Access to the Backstage Bar located within the O2 arena

*Chef's Table style dining

*Unlimited Beer, Wine and soft drinks (pre show only)

*1 Hour Post Show Party with DJ (cash bar)

*Souvenier VIP Laminate Pass

*Event manager and hostess in attendance

Maybe if I was a richer man. I guess it's clear you will have absolutely no access to Elton John himself, but for GBP675 per person you get all that plus:

This exclusive package includes:

Tickets in fourth row of Block A2 / Behind the Scenes Backstage Tour including:

A walk through the Stage area

Explanation of the huge screen and video mix

The under stage quick change area

The Inflatable Scenery

The Front of House Mixer

Explanation of the piano rack

Hospitality in Backstage Bar including:

Champagne Reception

Chef's Table style dining

Inclusive Beer, Wine & soft drinks

Souvenir VIP Lanyard

Post Show party in the Backstage Bar with DJ

**PLUS - The opportunity to join Elton on stage during the show !**

PLEASE NOTE: This package does NOT include a meet and greet with Sir Elton John

Wonder what "the opportunity to" means, doesn't sound guaranteed, more like a raffle... Mostly the extras there seem to be a tour of the venue.

Think we're staying in and having a family dinner type thing. That's GBP1350 saved towards our next house.

Coldplay tickets

Wembley Stadium, Wembley, London

Coldplay play Wembley, Hampden Park and Lancashire County Cricket Club in September next year, some very big gigs indeed, and Ticketmaster will have some special packages here. Regular tickets also go on sale at 9.30am today.

It's going to be quite a difference to (I think) the last Coldplay gig I went to. Saw them at Glastonbury with that amazing lazer show, but the last proper gig was at the Barfly I think, Barfly sessions, read about it here. If you are interested like.

Yeah I do have other stuff to talk about, just not right now, right here.

Register here on the 02 site, would not have thought there's much chance of getting tickets for this when they come out on the open market...

This is hot, even get me in don't have it listed yet, but nme says (and the got it from the sun) that the gigs are on the 3rd and 4th of June 2009, and will be the only European dates as part of her 2009 world tour.

Someone else struggling with their Habitat Radius wardrobe doors

Nov 27

Wonder if the person selling this wardrobe was planning to sell the wardrobe anyway, or if the doors not shutting properly has driven them mad and made them want rid? That's how I read it:

This wardrobe was bought from Habitat around 3 years ago. It cost GBP795. It is part of the Radius range. The doors can be adjusted by using the adjustable rods which run from top to bottom inside both doors. The doors currently need adjusting.

I got there in the end with mine, can't remember how I solved this. We could do with another one, don't suppose the final price will be worth hiring a van and driving to Norwich for though... probably should wait until we move though.

Still can't make any money off those ebay links, they've not enabled my account :-(
