Just tried to give blood, and after waiting for an hour, I had to give up and come back to work, bah. So now I am bursting with an extra pint of blood that I wasn't expecting to be carrying around with me! It's going to take a real extra effort to get drunk later.

Just had a meeting at Port Lympne, at their conference facilities, as we needed a lot of people in the room at the same time. Nice place, good to see the house, I've not been before.

Some monkeys were whooping all through the meeting, very distracting. I assume they were outside.

Our freezer broke down today, all the haircut money I'd saved will have to go towards that.

The inside back of the freezer has bulged out (not with frost, I don't know what with) and it's forced the drawers out so they pushed the door open and it thawed out. It was full of food, Sainsbury's recently had two for one on Linda McSausages and pies and I'd stocked up :-(

THE PRESS LAUNCH

Tonight in London it's the Press Launch for my Edinburgh Fringe show My Exciting Life In ROCK. It's on at The Cross Kings on York Way, kicking off just after 7pm with a set from Mr Pete Green before I do the show in full.

It's four quid on the door and open to everyone who fancies it - there'll be BADGES afterwards and GOOD TIMES throughout, so please come along if you can!

Went to Go Ape at Leeds Castle on Friday, bit of a work jolly. None of the pictures or video really came out that well, but here is me on a zip line / death slide / flying fox.

It was great! Some pictures to come too.

As a reward for watching my video of me (holding the camera pointing at myself btw, not some sort of girly tandem death slide), here is a funny video of a squirrel:

It's an ad for Carlsberg Sport, which seems to be an energy drink type thing, it must be alcohol free too. Strange move for a beer brand, are they getting the fear that drinking is rapidly becoming the new smoking do you think?

Why's this Habitat Radius furniture always so far away?

Five drawer tallboy, starting at fifty quid, but it's in Cheshire. Will most likely end up waiting until we move and then buying another one of these new. It's going to be well handy having tall and slim furniture when we move from the big wide flat to a small narrow house. It's not a mistaken double listing there are two of them.

The same person is also offloading the regular wide chest of drawers and a wardrobe

Made an effort with this post to be more descriptive in my subject line there, did you notice? Not just "Why so far away?", which was my first choice, but something fuller, to draw the casual browser of subject lines only (say on an rss reader) in. OK, only the casual browser who happens to be interested in Simon Pengelly's Habitat Radius furniture, and not the casual browser only interested in compromising pictures of my friends, but I think there might be an audience out there. I was reminded to do this listening to the Guardian tech weekly podcast, it's quite good.

Going ape this afternoon, a jolly with work, hope the weather holds up. Yes there will be pictures of that, and no more furniture all week.

Have a look at someone else's pictures of Folkestone. Looks to me they did all of the Triennial things that we did in just the same order, but the differences here are (I think) they visited Folkestone especially for this (so The Triennial is working) and also they got to see the Seagull.

No idea who that person is, they were just lucky enough to come up in a search of the most recent pictures tagged "Folkestone"...

Bonekickers

Did you see Bonekickers on TV last night? I will watch some crap, but even I had to turn it off, it was so bad! I am still tempted to catch up on what I turned off on iplayer later, just to reassure myself that it was just about the worst thing ever. It was like Time Team, but acted cheesily and OTT like Torchwood, with a big old chunk of the Da Vinci Code in it, but it was so amazingly unsubtle, we were calling scenes several in advance. The story blunders into itself that I can't say much about it that doesn't give away everything that we saw, but I'll try. Some archaeologists are at a dig near Bath, when they find a 2000 year cross beam impregnated with mysterious death healing blood and traces of nails that have probably been driven through say someone's hands and feet. Oh I give up.

All the points of reference the show has are things that I quite like, but this is rotten.

And it's got mad Joe from Eastenders in it, and he's mad again. Has he done anything else between these twin roles?

UPDATE: I watched it to the end on iplayer, it was still rubbish, moved far too quickly and tried to squeeze in too much Indiana Jones.

This box set didn't sell, but my Stereophonics ticket did! Rah, we did not have to go and I didn't lose any money.

Looks like the same box set has come up again, and another at a higher price.

I am going to think more carefully before buy more tickets for Folkestone gigs... or am I?

The Zoo Thousand Port Lymne festival sounds like the festival was awful, no-one really has a good word to say about it at work.

At least two of the headliners did not play (but as the headliners were Athlete and Dizzee Rascal) that's not necessarily a bad thing), lots of the bands were moved to timeslots where they were missed, and Chas N Dave were moved to a backstage VIP bar, bit unfair.

One of my workmates is quoted here, they mistake him for a girl though, TSK!
