Excitement for this week:

Hmm, so far not much. I am mostly pinning my hopes on one job offer that I'm expecting to hear back from any minute now. It's a really good fit for my skills and experience, I only hope I don't get "gazumped" by someone offering to do the job for half the money, we'll see...

Decided to kickstart my gigging, which didn't quite tie in with trying to cut down on spending right now... Got some tickets for The Dirty Pretty Things at The Leas Cliff Hall. Hoping it'll sell out pretty fast, I think it will, so then I've got the option of going or flogging the tickets nearer the date. Could this be the start of a new ebay empire? Maybe not.

Got some email from the person who made the Our relative Harry Clarke's story documentary (about Clare's uncle. I'm getting a DVD copy of it off them, which will be nice.

Kept my self busy just recently doing some work on | UK comedy and satire, a new satire site by John O'Farrell, and also putting some voting into the gig listings on Folkestone Gerald. Getting a tiny bit more activity on the forum there, including plenty of dolphin stories.

Happy Talk like a pirate day, arr, have some real pirate gold...

Averaging only one post a week at the moment, blimey.

Harry Clarke on Ebay

Just searching on a whim and I found this Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales, illustrated by Harry Clarke. This is Harry Clarke who is Clare's great grand uncle, no blood relation to we Clarkes, but now part of my family. The book must have just been put on today, and was at 12.50, every bid of mine up to 35 quid was beaten by some automatic bidding, who knows what this book will reach... It's not clear if it's a first edition, but to have any book with Harry Clarke illustrations would be fabulous.

Seems like a schools / educational film. When will there be a real film about his life? Johnny Depp ought to star in it...

Hmm, bidding's gone over fifty quid, how high can it go? Search for more Harry Clarke, I'm going to make that a permanent link in the side bar... OOF, this guy's cutting illustrations out of books, that's gotta hurt...

• popex admin, deleting accounts, reading mail, adding bands


• Further testing of new "gig mail" thing that will send you a mail when tickets for your fave band go on sale, is it working or not?


• Barfly tweak - automated magazine listings were including information that wasn't needed, leading to editing by hand, feature wasn't originally spec'ed. Liaising with Barfly to make changes. Mostly just involved removing defaults, which staff were leaving in, and then cleaning up past messes.


• Putting new Barfly server live, security and access and sendmail issues... sorted just about, so copying everything over, maybe go live today... gone live NOW! Is it faster? Should be more stable / expandable


• Still need to get Barfly timesheet system in order and show Jez through it


• Bought some new trousers


• Going to REM tonight!
